My posts for my blogging assignments.

My sixth blogging assignment
News story one
Someone fired shots at the Pentagon,  however, the shooting was called a random event by security officials. No one was injured. A security official says that they are not sure what fired the shots but they  know it was a high-velocity rifle. Later on the shooter was found to be John Patrick Bedell. He was shot by the police and taken to the hospital where he died some hours later. Officials do not  know his motives but they think he had some hate for the military. The Pentagon staff are trying to find out whether this shooting was related to the shooting of a museum with a high-velocity rifle. Large glass panels were hit causing $20,000  damage, luckily none of the artifacts were hit.
I think bees are fuzzy and cute, the made up creature called a Puffa is pronounced Poofa.

My first blogging assignment.
1) We were presented a project last week that is connecting people in Ghana to other people outside of Africa through letters and projects we send back and forth.

2) To me peace means that everybody is accepted by everybody and there are no enormous wars used to solve problems, but that problems are settled out reasonably.

3) I would like to promote peace through visual art. I would like to do this because visual art can be on a solid material so the people in Ghana can view it anytime.

4) I would like to do something like putting different shaded photos of Ghana to create some bigger picture.

My second Blogging assignment

1) I was expecting it to be really hard because I would have to get used to calling teachers by their first name, having no locks on the locker, and all the touchy felly things. However everything turned out fine and was not too hard and Junior high failed my expectations, which is good because I was afraid it would be too hard to get used to my school and do my work.

2) The thing I like the most about Paideia is that the seventh graders can connect and get help from the eighth graders. I am struggling with the around the world assignment because everything is so limited, the time and the budget.

3) I think my teachers aren't intimidating because they are new, but they're just like any teacher, not like the feared ones that are supposed to give lots of homework each night that takes hours and is due tomorrow, actually, I've learned that humans like to exaggerate and there actually is no teacher like that.

4) I don't really feel intimidated by any of the students older than me because we get to know them so well they can't really intimidate us, however I do feel intimidated by the students in other classrooms because I don't know them as well. I would like to be closer to one of my friends Rob because we were friends in Paideia camp but now we are so far apart.

My third Blogging assignment

1) I am going to be sending a eraser stub. The eraser used to be really long and really good at erasing but now I have broken and worn it down to as stub. It was given to me from a friend I had in Vietnam, it reminds me of all the good memories I had with my friend. I will be sending peace because I want people to share connections with each other,  such as the connection from me to the stub and then to my memories of my good friend.

My fourth Blogging assignment
1) The theme of Twist is that everybody is equal. This is the theme because it is related to the conflict. The conflict was that no one in Twist’s life had ever treated him equally, or ever got a chance to actually overcome the unequal acts of other people. The resolution was at the end when Boston finally stopped treating him as a way to earn money. Even though the theme seems like something else because the conflict seems to be Luscious related. But the conflict that I write about here fits with Luscious, because Luscious was not treating him equally but just a way to get his sister’s inheritance, not to have a nephew.
2) The mentor for Twist was Mr. Prudhomme. He said “Never stop dreaming” This was telling Twist to never stop believing that one day he would be equal to other people.
3) The deeper meaning of Twist’s name was from what Della said when he was born “He was born on a twister.” Meaning that there was a lot of turmoil around his birth, it also means that he is a twist on the original character Oliver Twist.
4) The Mardi Gras costumes acted as a symbol for equality, because with them on he was able to hide his differences and was treated equally and participated in the party as a normal equal person. The locket acted as symbol for love, because his mother gave it to Twist as a sign for him to remember her by and that she loved him. The orphanage acted as a symbol for inequality, because there, Twist was forced to scrub the floors because he was different and had a trick played on him that got rid of him because he was different.
5) I think the dancing and songs worked for the musical. The simple set worked extremely well for the musical as well. The timing of the setting up of the set might need to be improved or maybe the actor’s timing, because in one scene Luscious had reached where he was supposed to be, but the orphanage door wasn’t up and ready yet. I think that when Twist is singing “A color no one likes” the orphanage people shouldn’t be eating food comically behind him, and that Della shouldn’t die, because there is no point for that to happen.

My fifth Blogging assignment
First news story from the Wall Street Journal
In Budapest, Hungarian leaders have declared a state of emergency. A flood of toxic sludge has occured in multible villages. The flood came from a alluminum factory. The flood originated in a storage pond from the factory containing the sludge. The storage pond was damaged which allowed the sludge to flood out. More than 110 people were injured by chemical burns that the sludge gave them when they came in contact with it. 7 people are missing. The flood originated from a factory in the town Ajka, which is 100 miles southwest from Budapest. This flood is threatening to pollute the Danube river.(this was all I could get because to read more I have to subscribe)
Second news story
The United Arab Emirates has stopped bank transactions with several banks that have been suspected by the U.S. to be getting money for nuclear workings and possibly terrorism in Tehran. The side affect of this is that Iran now has major trouble with finances. This has happened because the U.A.E. has stopped bank transactions between general Iran banks and the nuclear funding Tehran.(this was all I could get because to read more I have to subscribe)
